Nuvo 20 gallon planted newbie

Hey everyone. I'm coming from the world of saltwater and decide to start a small planted tank. Im new to this world snd I could really use your help. Im shooting for low tech.

Equipment:
Nuvo 20 gallon
Fluval Plant 3.0 LED

... and thats about as far as I've gotten so far

Do I need any dedicated filter like a canister or can I just run filter media in the back chamber?

Stocking or plants advice?

What am I missing?

Do you have a picture of the setup? -- more so the filter compartment?

Low tech is fairly easy to achieve, you're basically there already.

Heater? might need one if the room swings a lot in temp or is cold.

Substrate?
Hardscape?
A picture of the equipment would help too.

As for stocking, you could do nano fish and keep some shrimp, or shrimp only, add some snails, usually I like smaller fish and smaller plants in smaller tanks -- it keeps the overall scale more "natural" as opposed to having a giant sword plant take up half the tank and a single larger fish in my opinion.

Chili Rasboras
Celestial Pearl Danio
Dwarf Emerald Rasbora
Ember Tetra
Pygmy Cory Catfish
Any color variant of Cherry Shrimp
Amano Shrimp
A single mystery snail of any color
A couple nerite snails
Oto catfish
Bamboo shrimp
Dwarf rainbowfish such as threadfins, spotted blue eyed, forktail, neon red etc. search for the Pseudomugil genus.

For plants:

Any moss, Crypt parva, Crypt lutea 'hobbit', bacopa spp. compact, star repens, AR mini, Blyxa japonica, Gratiola viscidula Pearl Weed, Hydrocotyle sp. Japan, Ludwidgia mini red, Mayaca, Anubia petite
