A drawn diagram like that is hard to say for sure if it is too restricting. Without knowing the type of plumbing, angles, sizes, and spacing you can't get a true answer. But I do want to say that yes it is too restricting. I would want to say to run them as straight up as possible.

Other note, that stand looks pretty cool. I'm rather jealous myself. Pallets around here are cheap garbage pallets. So cheap people will pay you to take them away.

It took awhile to get the pallet wood. Luckily its all oak and solid. Im not sure what im going to do to mount my inline hardware. The inflow and outflow are on top of the filter and the filter is 14" high. That leaves very little room to go straight up.
