40 Gallon Breeder Community Planted - high tech

It's been a while since I posted a tank. Just had a lot going on in my life and made major changes to tank sizes over the last 4 months. The 90 gallon is gone, I'm down to just two tanks.

This is my 40 Gallon Breeder. I don't have a stand for it yet, planning to build it, and the light isn't on its legs yet but I will get it done.

I'm open to any thoughts.

Current specs:
40 Gallon Breeder
Eheim 2028
Dual 36" T5HO Fixture w/ 10K Lights
Hydor inline 300w heater

Will list current plants/fish later

My Tanks
75 Gallon Planted Community Tank

Also run an LFS so I deal w/ over 30 tanks daily.

Looks good. My only thought is that you will want co2 with that light intensity. It's necessary for mine with the same lighting.

I realize that will eventually be a need. Right now I'm just going to dose excel until I have more funds available.

Did a rescape and added a background to my 40. I also cleaned all the dead/not attached moss from the driftwood. It finally started attaching and growing directly on it which is something I was looking to happen.

Figured I would post an update. I'm thinking about rescaping again. I would like advise. I also would like advise on some plants to add. I'm currently dosing excel daily and just started dosing flourish today (had to find my bottle). I also just knicked the rhizomes on my anubius plants per a lot of reading so that they will start branching out. Right now I'm seeing one new leaf a week on my anubius plants.

Well its been about 3 weeks since my last update. I just cut the light by 1 hour a day as I'm starting to have algae problems. Growth is still really good. I added a new piece of driftwood. I'm planning to re-aquascape in the next few days and trim the sunset hygro.

Any ideas or recommendations?

Do you have the lights sitting right on top? If not how high are they? Great start!

They are 2 1/2" above the tank on legs. I had them running 11 hours a day, now they are down to 10 hours a day. I also increased my excel dosing to double the recommended amount as of today. Also I am dosing flourish trace 1 to 2 times weekly.

Current occupants are:
9 Cardinal Tetra
1 Female GBR
1 Pepper Cory
1 Panda Cory
4 or 5 ottos.

Plants:
2 Argentine Swords
1 Amazon Sword
3 Anubius
Dwarf sag (I think)
2 dwarf tiger lillys
Sunset hygro
Moss
One unidentified grass like plant.

Ok, so I rescaped yesterday and now I really need ideas. I want to add some new plants (that is the reason I pulled a bunch of the hygro). I am also considering getting rid of the argentine sword on the right side.

So what does everyone thing? I'm also looking at adding some stone to the tank.

Opinions all?

So my first update in over 2 weeks. Has a food fubar so I lost some fish. My 3 year old dumped half a container of food into the tank. Plants are growing really well though.

I would like some opinions. I have a few new plants coming. I'm considering putting a slate tower in the right rear corner. I lost my last GBR due to an overfeed by my 3 year old son. After a lot of reading I realized they prefer caves so I figured it would be beneficial to have the slate tower.

As of now here is what I have for fish:
6 Cardinal Tetras (hardy buggers survived a large ammonia spike)
3 Panda Corys
2 Yoyo loaches
5 or 6 otos (hardy like the tetras)
1 Bristlenose pleco (no idea if it is a male or female)

For plants:
2 Argentine Swords
1 Amazon Sword
1 Anubius Barteri
2 Anubius Nana
Multiple Sunset Hygro
Christmas moss (attached to the driftwood in the middle)
I believe Tiawan moss (still growing on the driftwood on the left)
Dwarf Sagatarius
Some unknown grass like plant
2 Dwarf Tiger Lillies

If anyone can identify that grass looking plant in the middle....

And any ideas on aquascape/plants I'm all ears. Right now I want this tank to fill in really well. I'm hoping to add CO2 in the next month or two. Once this tank has fully filled in I want to upgrade to a 120 Gallon. But that takes a lot of money...

Great tank! I have the very same breeder!

Sorry to hear about your GBR, they are one of the most beautiful fish around.
How do you like your yoyo loaches in there? Thinking about some along with some kuhli loaches for my bottom crew.

I would just add more grass to to fore ground and let it grow out.
What kind of CO2 set up are you planning?
