35g hex/5.5g

ok so i decided to start my own journal. brief history with the 35 hex, got it about 1 1/2-2 yrs ago. it has seen fake plants and teal gravel to what it is today, a moderately planted low-tech tank. the pics below illustrate how the tank has evolved. unfortunately i loaded them in reverse order, sorry.

Specs: 35 gallon all-glass
Emperor 280
Aqueon heater
small airstone at night
2 x 18" 18w 8000k bulbs, i modified top cover to accommodate 2 strip lights

Flourite base
Instant Aquairum top layer

crypt wendtii, green and red
crypt spiralis
val
anubias minima
golden lloydiella
melon sword
marimo ball
anubias petite nana
lutea
duckweed

1 discus
4 rummynose tetra
4 dwarf rainbowfish
1 bulldog pleco

just started dosing excel, flourish, potassium the other day

As you can see, i didnt know a whole lot in the beginning. But after learning about certain plant requirements( mainly by looking on here), I started making better decisions as far as what to plant. I apologize for the bad pics by the way, here is some more new ones.

the discus fins look clamped because i spooked him with the camera, and if you look at the driftwood you can see some moss making a comeback

now for the 5.5, it has been everything from a goldfish,betta,dwarf puffer and now forktail rainbowfish tank. i didnt like how the driftwood with moss took up most of the tank making it seem smaller so now it has a minimalist look. the driftwood i found last year in key west i believe.
