Well I recently changed a lot because I realized that my sodium from my water softener was killing my plants.

I changed my light tubes to 1 powerglo 10,000k and one lifeglo 6700k, because I bought my light used and the old fixture were putting out like 50% less light output compared to these.

I really liked my old scape but I wanted to restart this tank and hopefully have some results this time.

Water Parameters:
Finally, unsoftened, un-sodium enriched water...

PH 6.6-6.8 (Injecting c02)
GH around 20 deg.
KH around 8 deg

ENJOY!

Looks nice. Are you going for an all plant look? A little hardscape would go a long way. Kribs love places (caves) to hide. I got a half coconut at petsmart that was made for crabs, boiled it for 10 minutes (to get the worst of the tannins out) and put it in my tank. My kribs took up residence within 40 minutes. And I already had lots of places to hide, but they love that thing.

I actually moved them to another 29g in my house. It has a more rock / sand type setup so I thought they would be happier for now. I actually changed my game plan with this tank a little bit. Im going for a more crypt, sword, and fern tank now because I heard they will be more tolerant to my water. There's a tank at one of my lfs which follows a similar plan and it looks really really nice.

I liked the picture of the first one. Minus the hagen bubble ladder. That wood piece should be the center of attention once your plants grows taller and blends it away. That wood would look nice once blended!

Do you think I can incorporate the wood into this scape or should I just go for an all planted type deal. I really like it either way so it's hard for me to choose!

Added a sword plant....added C.Parva to the foreground area...Added a Java fern. Sort of drifting towards my new theme, crypts/swords/java ferns. I was going towards stem plants before but I saw a tank near me with similar water conditions and the plants looked like they were doing amazing and the tank was very nice as well.

^^^ nice video but looks like the foreground plants are taller than background which doesnot look good, try to get the smaller plants ahead of the tall ones and try to mix and match like small leaved plants with large leaves so that everything doesn't look the same
And as mentione by others get the driftwood back in .

So put the swords in the back and bring everything behind there to the front?
I thought that the stems in the back would grow over the swords in the front, so I left them there. When Im done with my homework Ill bring the wood back in and work on another scape I guess.

Can you guys give me some scape ideas on how to use the old wood with the current plants to make the tank look nice. thanks.

you like?

I dont really like it. I might try and turn the wood a little bit but as of right now It doesn't look too good. also, it makes the lighting look weird because it reflects right off of the wood.

and the water is a bit cloudy!

Changed all of the gravel for Fluval stratum. I have this stuff in my ebi, and to me it seems like the only thing that sets that tank apart from this one. all of my plants grow amazingly in that tank, so I though why not.

Water's still very very cloudy!
