Shrimpo's Ebi/CRS farm

So it took weeks of waiting, a lot of online bidding wars, and many great deals from people on tpt, but I finally got my ebi all set up.

Specs:
Substrate: Fluval ebi substrate
Flora: HC, Downoi, Riccia, DHG (Elocharis acicularis)
Fauna: Soon, S-SSS grade CRS
Lighting: 25 watt macro glo and 13 watt fluval ebi compact (38 watts total)
Heater: None needed, temp is 71 degrees at the moment but I have one
CO2: Was gonna get the fluval 88g CO2 kit but instead I think I've decided to do paintball co2, so I'm still on the fence.

THE TANK:

When I envisioned this tank, I knew that I wanted it to have a nice carpeting plant with three stones; it seemed peaceful. Then I got the vision of the middle stone being high like a mountain, with the CRS being white like snow swimming around like a blizzard. I called my brain idea "Peppermint Mountain".
Then I thought of riccia as pine trees, and I added downoi into the equation because it made it look less bare. The result: A lot different then the Peppermint Mountain in my head, but I'm very pleased nonetheless.

Fluval Ebi:

I was really pleased with the Ebi, but just for people considering it there were a lot of cool features that I liked
-the shrimp net triples in length and actually becomes really long. I got a kick of out that.
-They give you a fair amount of soil, but rinse it like crazy.
-The rock background is STYROFOAM. NOT ROCK. It doesn't look bad far away, but my plans were for a moss wall, and I was disappointed. Moss won't grow on it because it's too slippery.
-Filter is great
-Light is great, low wattage though
-Comes with "Shrimp Safe", "Mineral Supplement" and "Shrimp Granules" food. I'm gonna use Mosura Specialty food for my CRS but I might use the mineral supplement. Both seem pretty high quality and just as good as the big buck shrimp producers.

If you want to know anything else about the ebi, ask me. It's a great little aquarium and even comes with a packet on keeping shrimp. Pretty nifty.

THE PICTURES

glosso or hc? I'm looking for something easy to grow but it's a small tank so hc might look better. Also I can't guarantee co2 yet.

First one is of my side project, growing HC emmersed on the corner of my tank with some of the substrate I had left over. Second is an awful full tank shot rotated sideways, and third is of a close up of plants. Sorry folks, my camera broke and I'm stuck using my phone Atleast I have pics there though.

Current Fauna: A few red cherries to cycle the tank.

NEW: Swapped out the peacock moss for some DHG runners in the back I've had growing in a low light (1.5 wpg) little ferts setup for a while. Grows very slowly. It looks a lot nicer now, I'll try to get some right side up pictures later.

Downoi looks great. Hoping it'll stay that way till I get a co2 system.
ALSO: I'm debating about having a moss wall or not, the peacock moss looks nice but they take forever to grow in and until then it looks like blah.

This setup is really great , saw one in the Pacific fish shop here in NYC the other day.
Fluval also has a Plant kit, which includes really small pressurized CO2 kit.
The fluval substrate looks exactly similar to Aquasoil , wonder if this one also leaks amonia ?

Will keep an eye on this thread

Thanks,

now I have to update lol. I'm really lazy.

Nah, I really just want to get my crs and co2 before I show off my tank.

Maybe I'll add some pictures later though; I changed some things around.

The ebi soil doesn't leak ammonia, which is a lot better than AS.
