Cool KiDD's 46G Bowfront

My Marinland 46 Gallon Bowfront Tank

I started this tank as a African Cichlid Tank. I sold my Cichlid's and all my Rocks to start a Nice Planted Tank.. Cichlids are nice but I wanted more
than just looking at rocks and a few fish...

So I will start with my set up.

Floval 305 w/ quilt batting and the bio orbs it came with
Marinland Penquin 200b BioWheel Hob stuffed with Quilt batting

Water Flow
1x Hydor Nano 240Gph
1x MaxiJet 1200 Powerhead
This is hooked to a DIY undergravel Jet system with 7 nozzles

200W Hydor Heater

WavePoint T5HO 2x 39W
2x PowerGlo Bulbs 18,000K
Marineland Blue LED lights

Nutrafin Natural Plant System

Pool Filter Sand

2 Halfblack Angel's (there about 2 1/2 inches long)
4 Marbled Angels (there about 2 1/2 inches long)
6 Cardinal Tetra's
9 Neon Tetra's (was 10 one passed away)
6 Black Neon Tetra's
2 Panda Cory
1 Redtail Shark
4 Octo's

Micro Sword (Lilaeopsis brasiliensis)
Dwarf Hairgrass (Eleocharis acicularis)
Corkscrew Vallisneria (Vallisneria americana)
Cryptocoryne wendtii
Kleiner Bar Sword (Echinodorus Kleiner Bar)
Melon Sword (Echinodorus osiris)
Moss Ball (Cladophora aegagropila)
Moneywort (Bacopa monnieri)
Rotala rotundifolia
Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus)
Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis)
Lutea Crypt (Cryptocoryne walkeri var. lutea)

I plan on changing the Light bulbs out when I get some money to Life-Glo 6700K bulbs
The LFS sold me the POWER-GLO saying that is what they use in there display tanks. But everything I read says there too much...

I also plan on getting a injected CO2 system. The two I'm thinking about is

As far as my fish go One the Angels grow some and I find a nice Pair I will sale the other 4 and I'm thinking after there gone to add a few Dwarf Guarmi's or maybe something else not sure there name..

I'm new to this planted thing and I have enjoyed this site so far. In my house I have 3 Fish tanks, this 46 Gallon tank, a 15 Gallon Tank with Mollies in it It's in my oldest daughters room and well The Decor in it is ugly with fake reef and pink stuff in it.. She bought it and picked all the stuff out, but now she wants it to be more natural. The Third tank is a 10 Gallon that started me into this fish thing. We got it for free and It has 2 Betta' female's had 4 but 2 have since died. It also has 2 dwarf frogs 2 otto's and a albino cory, It has some Moneywart and some other plant from Petsmart in it with a sand bottom It's a nice looking tank. And the reason I wanted to go bigger on a planted tank.

Please any advise, comments are welcome and appreciated :

Now for the Pics

Well it's been almost a month since I started this planted fun... With the Holidays I still have not gotten me a C02 Injection system yet..

I have removed 3 Angels so far and added 3 Dwarf Guarami
1x Red Finned Shark and 2 Panda Cory's

I had 1 cardinal and 1 black neon Tetra pass away. : (

I moved the Driftwood around a bit and some of the plants around did alittle trimming not much

I think the Sand is killing my grass plants from spreading around but it's cool I got time..

so here are some Pics.. They are not great Pics I took them with a Cell Phone I will get some better ones tonight maybe.

just a warning on the red tail.. i had one in my first tank 3 years ago.. my tank has evolved quite a bit since then.. but yours still looks young. as they grow and get larger, they become quite aggressive. even with a 46.. im not sure he wont go after other fish.. but the tank looks great!

-Just another day in paradise-
