55 gallon walstad method planted tank + tech

Filter: whisper HOB
Lighting: Zoo med T5HO 48 inch. x2 58 watt bulbs
Co2: DIY
Substrate: Miracle grow organic choice potting soil capped with fine gravel.

Flora: Rotala Macrandra, Jungle Val, Baby Tears, Star Grass, Cryptocoryne Blassii, Oselot Sword, and soon Cryptocoryne Wendtii Red.

Fauna: 12 Cardinal Tetras as of now.

Dosing excel daily, there's some hair algae in there. This is my first planted tank so i would enjoy some pointers. Also does anyone no what that white stuff is on the driftwood? its mopani wood if that helps. I hope this tank fills in nicely

maybe, but it is a walstad tank and she doesn't even use filters so i think this one will do me fine as it did before i even had plants and just fish. I may get a canister filter in the near future though.

The white stuff is some sort of fungus and is pretty common on new driftwood in new tanks. It goes away on its own in a few weeks.

Nope. Just let it ride and itll go away. I personally suspect its a terrestrial and eventually drowns as many times as ive seen it pop up on DW in my tanks through the years.

okay thats good to hear. I get kind of worry, this being my first planted tank.
