Dodo's Cube tanks

ok im gonna start a journal.. my shrimp tanks arent pretty, so im starting up pretty tanks and hopefully i'll stock them with shrimp..
i have some 6" cube tanks as well but they're not so pretty..

first up is my 9" cube tank..it wont be a planted tank
made out of acrylic
i used crushed black lava rock for the substrate
a really nifty lava rock dead center
its still cycling and very cloudy

2nd tank:
12" cubed tank
made out of acrylic
substrate is Black Tahitian Moon Sand
rocks are... river rocks or something..
plants: blyxa japonica so far..

the filter is in a temp location to cycle. at least its not cloudy in the pic

Nice setups man! That lava rock is awesome. What is your plan for the first one?

cool my first reply..

thanks, i really dug the lava rock as well.. there isnt a ton of hiding space in the back for stuff to hide. i was actually thinking of getting volcano shrimp.. they're different from the rcs, tigers i have.. it'll be a little different.

the rock is resting on a thing of petrified wood cause i needed something to keep it upright.. i replaced it with a piece of lava rock so it looks closer to the main rock. ill take more pics when the tanks clear, or i add something new

Looking good so far! I can see the lava rock tower in the first tank falling over and scratching the tank, that would be my luck.

You could probably do some Java fern or anubias 'petite' with brackish salinity if you wanted something green in there. Nice cubes!
