Tank: 40 gallon breeder
Lighting: Current Satellite+
Filter: 158gph Creekstone Fountain Pump in a DIY sponge filter
Ferts: NilocG dry ferts+iron, Flourish, Excel
This is my second planted tank, and I love the added space the 40g breeder gives! I used a basic sand from home depot and followed directions from the King of DIY on making an internal sump filter. I got a fountain pump from Harbor Freight for $8 and superglued a piece of airline tubing to the output, and stuck it back out of the tank. This way I can control directionality and flow. It actually works a lot better than I thought it would! I like this corner sump, as once the plants grow in it will be completely hidden with all my equipment inside, it was cheap, and it's completely silent.
It's currently stocked with:
10x Ruby Tetra
6x Green Neon Tetra
2x Twig Catfish
1x German Blue Ram
After a mishap with a heater, I lost my 40 RCS breeding colony.
Here are some more images, about 1.5 months after setup:
My plants have been suffering from higher temps as I battle a mean case of Ich. Still giving off new growth, and I know they'll be up to snuff shortly.
