20G Low Tech Islands (for now) - Feedback welcome

Hi All!

Total planted tank newb, but pretty obsessed. I would love any feedback on the equipment I got, the Scape itself, and Ferts.

What I've got:

20 G tank (standard I think?)
Aquaflow Technology AEF-302 External Filter System
Heater (I live in San Diego it hasn't turned on yet lol)
Beamswork DA FSPEC LED Aquarium Light Pent Freshwater 0.50W (60cm - 24")

UP AQUA Sand for Aquatic Plants on top of Seachem
With some pea gravel in nylon bags in the corners for height.
Play sand in front and the middle. (nothing under it)

Plants (I'm SOOO Bad with names):

Some type of grass stuff , and then some leafy thing in the corner (thinking of moving it).
Smaller stuff in the foreground
I've got a branch on order to make a Bonzai type tree thingy (an recs on moss to add to it?) That will go on the right side of the left island sticking out to the middle a bit.
I plan to add a bunch more plants too, just not sure what would be good or the best spot?

Debating adding another rock as a bridge in the middle, or maybe in the middle of the right island poking up.

I'm dosing daily with Flourish Excel, and got some ferts on order. from plantedaquarium.com Macro Micro Nutrient Mix and Graduated Dispenser Bottle. Do I need anything else?

I'm currently cycling it with the aid of a couple barbs from my other tank. I added some of the water from my other tank, and the filter media to the canister filter.

I was thinking of doing a shrimp tank, or maybe a puffer tank? Not sure yet.

Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks!
