Rescued 8 Gallon Metaframe

I just wanted to show off my 8 gallon nano. The tank was rescued from the basement of the old TAMU Galveston Marine Science building right before it was headed to the dumpster. It had a glass bottom but had the original tar sealant so im not sure if it was all original or not. I removed some of the old sealant and reapplied a thick layer of Dow 795.

The light is a Radion G3 Xr-15 with a custom 8020 mount that also forms a small stand. The filtration is a SunSun 602 with 2 Cobalt Neo-therm heaters.

The submerged plants include anubias, Christmas moss, sagittaria. The emersed plants include 2 peace lilies, pothos, Thai basil, oregano, and some baby tears. I have some Amano shrimp in there to. I added the shrimp then read they like to wander away from the tank but so far they have stayed put.

Thanks for looking,
Clint

That's pretty nice !!! Think I've got one or 2 in the basement from back when ; but your's is probably in better shape . When you resealed it , did you keep the slate bottom ?

EDIT Duh .... can't read . Saw it's got a glass bottom . Mine are slate .

I think those were originally for turtles The old asphaltum black sealant has a habit of cracking and unsticking from the glass and leaking.

You can actually reseal these with a paint stripper hot air gun by heat softening the old sealant. But it's best to try this after they've been dry for a few months.

Starting small, keeping it simple..(?)
