Ray's 100g planted discus tank updated 11-18-04 56K warning

Here's my 3 month old tank. I could not have done it w/o all the help from the people in this forum. I'm still a rookie and I could use your suggestions with aquascaping! Thanks. Enjoy.

Man, that's one sweet looking tank. Can't wait to see it in person.

Awesome tank, the jungle style you have there matches perfectly with the fish.

Absolutely beautiful!! Can I ask what you have for lighting? I have a 90 gallon and your crypts look almost purple compared to mine. Great job, I love it!!

Thank you for all your kind words! My tank was a mess before but all the advice on the forum helped me get it in shape

Fishylady, for lighting I have 2X96 PC 6700k and 2X55 PC GE plant and aquarium bulb (I think 9325K?? dont remember the number exactly). At the time of the picture I had 2X96 and 1 4XODNO 4' Sylvannia Plant bulb.
The GE's are amazing. They really bring out the red and blue colors. I would go with a mix of those and 6700s. I would post pics but my tank is in a bit of disarray until i move out some clippings.

Shalu's advice about doing alot of water changes helped my tank to get healthy. Sn8k's discus feeding tips helped alot too. It was full of algae and the plants didnt really take off before.

Georgiadawgger, you can search for some local breeders. You can find discus for really good prices!

Ray, we have exactly the same tank, down to the Truvu model(so be careful about plecos), now the PC lighting also the same I did not see much difference for GE9325 initially except everything is more pink, but now it is growing on me and it seems plants are getting redder, not just the perception of the pink hue.

Shalu, great minds think alike! haha
Your pleco is damaging the acrylic?
Im trying to catch my sailfin pleco. It was eating all my swords. Everytime I try to catch him he will escape into the plants.

Yep, my tank wall is full of tiny scraping marks caused by the bristlenose pleco, and you can notice that my pictures aren't focused well because the glass is blurred . Here is my thread on this
