Got Dirt?

Hopefully those pictures loaded. Took me forever to find locally but I got it. This will be my first dirted tank. 20 gallon long. Still need to decide on filter and lighting options.

Did you just make a thread for the sole purpose of posting pictures of bags of soil and blasting grit?

Yeah I'm an idiot. This should have gone into the Journals section.

So are you going to dirt your tank (dumb question ik)? What's your plans for it? honestly I am really interested to see how this all goes and turns out for you as im on the dirted verge for a 65, that or BDBG, heard dirt can kill stuff, cause a bit of a mess and slight hassle when planting and unplanting, etc. varied opinions.

This is somewhat of an experiment for me. First time messing with dirt and blasting sand. The plan is to go low tech. If it all works out well, I will use the knowledge gained on a future 40b or 75 gallon. This 20 gallon long was salvaged from the dumpster. It didn't leak, but I resealed it anyway since the silicone looked pretty rough in a few spots. Total investment so far is about $28. That paid for silicone, razor blades, rubbing alcohol and now the substrate. Now I have to decide on filter and lighting options.

I will be doing about 1.5 inches of dirt under 1.5 inches of sand, and use either Spiderwood or Manzanita wood and lava rocks for the scape. Will update as I purchase more stuff. Trying to stay budget friendly as well.

Overall it should prove to be a fun little project.
