60 Gallon Journal *update 12/27/2004* 56k warning

Just installed my lights 1x96w kit. I'll either keep this a low light set-up or move up with another 55w kit.

Plants:
Red Ludwigia
Java Moss
Anacharis
Lutea Crypt
Wendtii Crypt
Myrio
The two unknowns next to the heater/Anacharis

Substrate:
Flourite under the UGF
Play sand/Fine gravel mix

Hopefully I'll set it up in a convex shape, heavily planted towards the center with rocks at the ends, with a nice carpet plant at the left side.

You do not want a UGF in that tank, you will not be able to use any substrate ferts for your crypts for one and the plant roots will clog it creating a bio~bomb with time.

That has to go ...

Yeah, I couldn't keep the flourite down and I didn't want it mixing with the sand so I put the UGF as a sort of anchor. I'm using the UGF to keep the sand dust down while I'm doing daily 70% changes. Once the dust is to a minimum, I'll take out the airline and re-install the XP3. I just don't want sand particles getting in the impeller.

Pics don't show it but a temporary resident shares the tank. I'm holding a 6" Texas cichlid for a friend so I have to keep him out from destroying the aquascape, he's already made a mess on his own side. Once he's gone I'll probably work on that half.

Not sure, but I specifically picked those two bronze/red plants due to their ability to grow in low light. The crypt is actually doing pretty well, but I think the ludwigia is dying off. I'll probably fill in the middle area with a piece of driftwood with java fern attached to it.

I'll probably go background-less. I only have four cords/lines coming to and from the tank: filter intake, filter return, heater, light and I'll cover them up using a jungle val cover. I've already got the heater covered

Thought I'd update again.

Wondering what to do with the empty spaces and the background space where the anacharis is. I'm scared to pull it out until I can replace it with something because it keeps the algae at bay. Planning for a nice dwarf sag carpet in front of the rotala.
