Struggled with HC Cuba, so bought more HC CUba. Had read the less soil surface exposed the better. Unfortunately, couldn't buy myself out of the problems with this plant.

Bump: melted back to smaller areas while I struggled with the tank.

Also, left stone drove me nuts, took it out, smashed it, and put it back in

Bump: Pulled the HC - was tired of waiting for it to take off. Plants looked cool except HC and from my experience with Monte Carlo I knew I could easily carpet with that. Here it is day 1

Bump: Full carpet in 30 days

Hey Thanks Mike!

The Kompacta is a cool plant for me because in my experience its growth is based on light.

I bought two - I put one in here and one in my shrimp tank

The plant in this tank is staying short but growing outward as you mention, but no problem, I can clip what I don't want and its not obnoxiously growing outward at all. Consider it reasonable and manageable vs really long branchy growth

The plant in my shrimp tank is under Low-Med light, way less powerful. its growing tall and branchy upward and looks really cool! So I like the fact that you can play with the size of the plant, but I guess its considered Kompact bc its assumed people will grow it under Med-High to High light, keeping it short.

Blyxa is a weed! I removed two out of the 5 rooted plants, and have clipped about 4 good size starter plants off it since I started the tank in ~October.

It looks good.. But at least they don't grow all the way to the surface of your tank.. =)

Removed the large stone on the right, smashed it, and put it back in.

The Bucep has grown in nicely up the facade, I am enjoying the new look.

Luckily the roots of the surrounding plants all held well while I removed it, and things appear to be natural following the change.

The inhabitants are transfers from an old scape. I am kind of running out of things to do with this scape and although I am enjoying it, I am considering a total rescape or perhaps adding some new fauna. Thoughts?

I am considering some Fire Ring Danio if I simply add new fish. Otherwise, what about turning it into something else?

I bought it from AquaWorkz in Sacramento, AquaJapan produces decent quality tanks. Some low iron.

Aw thanks,

I put the journal together in one day, probably why you didn't catch it...
