I have recently setup a planted tank and wanted to share my successes and disasters with you all! Along with taking your advice to better my tank.
Substrate: ADA Aquasoil
lighting: Evergrow IT 2120
Filtration: siporax in sump
Dosing: full EI starter kit from aquariumplantfood.co.uk
CO2: pressurised CO2 at around 15-20 BPS (drop checker is green / yellow)
Fish stock: 15 Amano shrimp, 6 red flame shrimp, 11 rummy nose tetras, 11 flame tetras.
Plants: Alternanthera reineckii 'pink'
Microsorum pteropus 'Trident'
above is the picture taken before flooding. Hopefully you all like the hardscape.
Here you can see the tank in its current state. the plants are growing well. however I did get a lot of melt from my HC Cube, however I put this down to the emersed to submersed transmission.
The Alternanthera reineckii 'pink' really does look lovely and seems to be growing fast. however I am wondering if I am lacking some kind of nutrient? my brother thinks its Manganese, however I am not convinced.
I do not have much experience with moss. however I am pretty sure that this needs a massive trim up? Also I hope that the HC looks like it is starting to recover from its melting period.
Hopefully you like the tank, and can offer me suggestions! I am currently getting a small amount of algae growth near the substrate, so I was wondering if adding a large amount of limnophelia aquatica at the back left would help to combat algae growth? or some micro amazon sword.
I plan to update this post regularly with what I hope to be progress pictures!
Thanks for reading.
