45 Gallon Grandson's Planted Tank

Continuing the family tradition and the grandpa example (https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/12...tech-tank.html) it's time for the grandson start his own planted tank.

The tank will be a 180 liter (45 gallon) semi-cube tank. We are going to build the stand, the tank and the light.

For ease of maintenance is going to be a low tech tank following Tom Barr non-c02 method.

Equipment:
-Fluval 206 Filter
-Fluval M150 Heater
-Sunsun JUP-02 5W UV

Lights:
-DIY with 6 MR16 LED Bulbs, 4W Daylight White, 6500K, 520lm, AC/DC 12V, Dimmable Spotlight.
-RGBSIGHT Programmable Time LED Controller

I don’t know if the light is going to work, I have no experience with those bulbs.

Any input will be great!

Gonna be a cool looking tank, but lighting will be a problem.....fitting and the actual light beyond the walls of the glass( if u get what I mean)
Is it going to be used as a corner tank?

Yes it's going to be used on a corner. The back walls are going to be painted in black.

On the 'canopy', maybe use the banner as a sleeve, so you can hide the light in it and you will also be concentrating the light into the tank....just a thought

It's a good idea to have a sleeve of 1 inch or more. I will sketch it.

Yes, you can install a 2 ft. tube but I think the tank will have dark areas on the opposite corners. That's why I'm trying to use spot lights.
