Getting back in after 15 years

I've been out of fish keeping for about 15 years or so, however in January I got the itch again.
I started watching fish porn on YouTube & things just got worse. In February I was cursing CL & Found a 75 gal aquarium with a canister filter for $125. Seemed like a good deal to me. I promptly picked it up & built a stand from some plans I found on the web. Now all I had to do was get everything else that I needed to get up & running.
Over time I purchased or scrounged what I needed.

Finnex Planted Plus 24/7 (purchased)
Heater (purchased)
Air pump, tubing, air stones (purchased)
glass for cover & weir (scrounged)
rocks, gravel, & driftwood (scrounged)
sponges (purchased)
filter media (scrounged)

On a side note this is my first ever online forum & first post on the net.

welcome back! I was out of fish keeping for a long time as well and just got back into. I didn't realize how much I missed it.

I plan on keeping tetras, corydoras, & perhaps some angles. I have been thinkin about just filling it with a whole mess of guppies as well. I'll be goin with low light plants as this is my first attempt at plants.

The driftwood for the tank came from an Ash tree in my yard. A branch came out of it in a storm about 2 years ago, I moved it to the side of the garage & promptly forgot all about it. Glad it did once the bark was removed it revealed some very cool insect damage. I boiled the wood using my under used turkey fryer. TheY were boiled for an hour then flipped over & went for another hour. I did this process twice. The rocks I got from a farmer friend of mine, he has several rock piles along the edges of his fields. These were scrubbed with soap n' water then boiled for an hour using the turkey fryer. The pea gravel I'm using for substrate I got from a friend that had some left over from a landscape project. He also gave me half a bag of pool filter sand as well.
Next I'll install the corner wier.

When the wife & kids are gonw I close all the blinds, lock the doors, light a candle, & binge watch The King of DIY. It is a sick obsession I have. I should probably fund a support group.
