5.5 Desk Tank

This is my 5.5G Nano Planted Tank on my desk. It's low-tech right now, but I may add DIY CO2 in the future.

Equipment:
Red Sea Nano Filter
Eco-Complete Red Substrate
Catalina 50W Titanium Heater
27W 6500K CF Desk Lamp from Home Depot

Plants:
Crypt. lutea
Crypt. parva
Java Fern
Taiwan Moss
Anubias barteri 'Petite'

Livestock:
5 - Neon Tetras
5 - Red Cherry Shrimp

I'm still messing with the aquascaping (this is my first real planted tank). I have some granite rocks that I might put in. I also have a piece of driftwood I might add in.

I have some Nerite Snails coming in the mail soon and I'll probably be getting an Oto when the tank has stabilized more.

5.5G - Low-Tech Planted
20G - Nano Reef
55G - African Cichlids and Tons of Java Ferns
160G - Central/South American Cichlids

Nice tank. Isn't the filter abit weak for the tank?

Also... what is the dimension of your tank in inches?

Thanks. It probably is, I might upgrade that in the future. It's 16"L x 8"W x 10"D.

Yeah, I really like them. I might get some more. Maybe a slightly bigger variety.

Gorgeous tank! Wow! Your scaling really makes the tank look a whole lot bigger than it is ^_^

Thank! Yeah, it's pretty small. It sits right next to me on my desk though, so it actually seems pretty big.

Well, it's been over 13 monthes since an update, so another one is probably due

The tank is still going strong. I only have 2 Tetras in there right now and 1 Oto. I am currently being overrun by 3 things. RCS, Pond Snails, and Taiwan Moss. I have to rip out nearly all the moss every few months. These pictures are the moss growth from nearly nothing in about 2 months. Believe it or not, the Java Ferns, Crypt. lutea, Crypt. parva, and Anubias barteri 'Petite' are all still in there, usually buried by the moss though.

I'd be happy to take some of those pond snails off your hands.

I lost all of the original shrimp so I got 12 more about 5 months ago. Now I have at least 50 in there.

You really don't want these snails...lol. There seem to be hundreds of them. They get on everything and even get out of the tank occasionally.

Lol, that's the point. I'm setting up a dwarf puffer tank, they love pond snails. But I should really have no problem getting them from the lfs near me, they'd probably be just as willing to give 'em away too.
