Ch3f's 20L Future CRS Home

Never done a journal before, so I thought this is a good chance as any to start. This is my 20L tank. This tank is was setup around September 09, so it's about 6 months old. I don't have much plants inside right now, so don't make fun of me!

Specs,

Tank
20 Gallon Long. First 20G Long, and I LOVE IT!

Light
Catalina 20in. 72 Watt. Kinda strong, so I had to make a light stand to create some distance between the light and the tank.

Substrate
ADA Aquasoil Amazonia II

Filtration
Eheim 2215 hooked to a Eheim 1250 water pump hooked to a Corelife Chiller.

CO2
ADA Speed Regulator w/ 5lb CO2 tank

Fertz
Dry Fertz w/ EI dosing regiment

Stand
Petco. Stand. Cheap N' Nice

Scape
No Scape Really. Mainly wood.

Flora
Mini Pellia, a LOT of Mini Pellia.
Fontinalis antipyretica AKA Willow Moss. Both Thin and Thick.
Fissidens fontanus

Fauna
10 Amano
1 Otto
SS CRS in near future

Pixs,

Tank Shot

Close-up Mini Pellia

I'm still trying to collect some plants for this tank. Now that I have money that is. HAHA I really want to try out some Java Fern Trident and maybe some Java Fern Needle Leaf.

Looks great. The Mini Pellia looks like you could prune it like a bonsai tree.

Lol that would be neat. I am looking forward to adding a couple more mesh sheets of mini pellia to this tank. I want to have a carpetish thing going on.

I don't know if you check the Sales Thread, but Oblongshrimp is selling a bunch of Trident Needle Leaf Java Fern. I just bought 2 portions from him. I can't wait for it to come in.

The tank has been taking a beating lately. I've been treating the tank of BBA by OD withing excel and H202 so the mini pellia hasnt been looking to lively. I'm hoping after the treatment the Mini Pellia will snap back to life.

WOW, It's been a while. Not much as changed.

But here's the update:

I removed all the Amanos inside the tank and added CRS Hinos. Had a couple of die offs during the first few days, but 6 out of 10 made it.

I finally got the Java Fern Trident for my tank. But... it didn't turn out well... I didn't like the way it looked inside the tank, so I removed it. Decided that I'm going to use it for my 55 gallon long tank instead.

I added another driftwood piece to the left of the tank and tied some Peacock Moss, Flame Moss, and Fissidens.

The tank is really brown right now because the DW is African Driftwood and it's leech tannins like MAD. Once I add some purigen and it clears up the brown I'll snap some pictures and add it on.

Here are some pictures of the CRS

Here's also a strange new plant I found growing among my Mini Pellia. I think its some sort of new liverwort.

Hopefully Ill get a chance to snap some pictures of the entire tank.

Thanks Nick. I'm trying to keep the tank as clean and clear as possible. Once the other side of my tank grows in it will start looking nicer.

Damn plants need to grow in faster!!!

That's a pretty cool tank!
All those shrimp are making me green with envy. We can't get any tropical shrimp in NZ, and the cold water ones we get natively are too much hassle to keep and are colourless.

Not sure how I missed your journal popping up! The tank looks great and that is one massive chunk of pellia! Has it been with the tank the whole 6 months? How big was the starting portion?
