Because of size I would cut out some plants so the discus have more room.

in the top photo there were 30 x 3day old fry.

they lasted until about 5 days when they became free swimmers, but mother has a nasty habit of eating them when they become free swimmers.

i currently have 65 fry from these guys (out of about 150 wrigglers, too me a while to reailise she was eating them). they are in a grow out tank and are 2 months old.

layout is a follows, there is still a fair amount of room 4 them. its just the way i have the tank looking, from the front it looks very jungle like.

all the plants got a good trim today aswell. every 1 to 2 weeks they get cut in half.

Looks good, but the best way to have a bare bottom grow out tank and loads of care. otherwise they will be stunned.

beautiful fish. I think ypur tank would look amazing with a really low growing carpet plant and less stem plants to really showcase those amazing fish

The O.P lives in Australia... so it wouldn't help to know where they got it. The stuff is on the noxious weed list in U.S.A but it was easy for me to find in an LFS in CANADA. I would send you some of mine if I knew about the rules of shipping and such things... anyways...

Things appear to be going well for you. I wish you some luck with your new project, I bet it will be stunning! Congratulations on the breed, and good luck with the fry.

My tank sucks now

thanks 4 the comments everyone :-)

@DavidZ - the fry, when they get to about 1 month old, are trasnferred to a BB tank, with high quality filtration, aeration, and 50% daily WC's. i currently have 65 x 2month old fry in there.

@ Fat Guywhen i get some proper plant substrate, i want to get some HC for a carpet. when i get that going there will be less stem plants.

@ Problemman - ambulia is a common LFS plant here in Australia. costs about $5 AU.
