I've used anything from straight (no dilution) up to 1:10. Only difference is the time it takes to kill off stuff stuck to the ceramic disc.

Be sure to use a dechlorinator afterwards.

Also, don't scrub the disc! It'll enlarge the pores (microscopically), which will lead to larger bubbles (poorer diffusion).
