My experience with common ramshorns is that they reproduce like duckweed. I am aware of marine acclimated to fresh nerites. Any others I should look into?
Thorned Nerite snails are cool, thry lay eggs sometimes which never hatch. Just make sure the PH is above 7 or their shells will erode, which is true for any snails.
Pond and trumpet snails are my go-to for shrimp tanks because they stay a manageable size (I don't like my clean up crew being larger than the organisms I'm feeding). However if ramshorns overpopulate for you, these are almost bound to. But in a properly fed shrimp tank, there shouldn't be such an abundance of resources as to cause this.
This is for my office desk so it will be < 10gals.
