Question Best Way to Cycle

I just set up a 7 gal. and I can't decide how to cycle it. I dont want to wait a super long time, but I dont want to buy anything either. I was thinking of putting a piece of dead shrimp in my filter, but I don't know how much. So, what do you guys suggest I do?

P.S.- if you could explain how to do the method you suggest that would be great!

you can speed up the process if you have another (sounds like you have one), already established tank. just take some stuff (filter media preferably, substrate, rocks, plants work as well) from the established tank and put it in the new one. How much stuff? the more the better.

Also make sure the new tank is filled with dechlorinated water, or water from the existing tank.
