High PO4?

Hello, i do not understand, my PO4 are always high but the plant's grow is not so great. I stopped dosing P since my levels were more than 3ppm.

I did check the tap water, it is 0,2ppm of PO4. This is my second PO4 test (Seachem), and it gives high readings, like the other (Nutrafin). I think both tests are fine.

Should i forget bother about those tests and start dosing KH2PO4 again?

CO2 injected tank, lighting must be medium-high, or high. I dose EI, KNO3, GH buffer, Micros+B.

If you dose full EI with weekly 50% water changes and skipping dosing on WC day, you can expect PO4 concentration to bounce between four and eight ppm.

The general consensus seems to be, to keep PO4 around or over four ppm, to help keep GSA under control, and I agree.

It looks like when i don't dose P, plants are not thriving that much and i have more algae, even if the PO4 levels are high, which i do not understand.

I will continue dosing P and don't care too much about the tests.

I wonder if something else is out of order?
I have been seeing several posts about the micros in CSM+B perhaps being too high when dosed per EI levels. You might reduce this a bit, see what happens.

Quote:

Does this mean you are dosing KNO3, GH buffer and micros+B over and above the EI dosing levels?

What are the levels for all the tests you have in between dosing and water changes?
For example, right before and right after a water change?
Through the week the levels should be rising, reaching a peak right before a water change.
Then, given a 50% water change, the levels should drop by 50% (unless of course there are some things in the water you are using to refill).

I think the trace of phosphorus in the tap water is not a big deal, but if you want to reduce the phosphorus dose enough to compensate, that is OK.

test kits suck - do not rely on them

focus on what your plants respond to - not an arbitrary number somebody told you not to exceed

I agree that if you use CSM+B you should try cutting back. I notice blatant toxicity in some plants (ESPECIALLY AR mini) when I dose a little too much CSM+B. Now I dose very very small amounts of it with some iron and the plants immediately respond positively.

Hello Diana and Klibs, right now i just dose 1/8tsbspoon per week of micros+B, it's a 65G tank.

I will do a good WC this weekend, I restarted dosing KH2PO4. I will see how it goes.

Thanks for your help.
