Root tabs in DSM

Hi all! I'm starting a new tank and want to use the DSM. I am reusing some fluorite for the foreground and then the "raised" section is Aqua Solum. I mainly want to get my foreground plants going -- lots of short stem plants will be going in the back. Since the fluorite is basically inert, I am definitely going to want to use root tabs, but am wondering if I can go ahead and place them now so that I won't have to disturb new roots once I've flooded the tank. I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

Thanks!
Jennie

You can do the root tabs whenever you want. I put a very thin layer of osmocote plus before the substrate in my most recent DSM. The results were great, definitely the way I will be doing it for now on for inert substrate. Good luck!
