Time for New Media to seed?

So I'm itching to put more fish in this new tank right now. It's barren. Looks empty and lifeless LOL.

I only have 8 zebras, plus a few stragglers from the old tank, my CAE, and Rainbow Shark.

I put ALL of the old media from the 40 into this tank, plus all of the Eco from it. It's fairly well planted, though I wouldn't say heavy. I stopped testing for ammonia, as it was staying relatively negligible, and the fish are acting normally. Seem comfortable and active.

How long does it take for new media to seed? I dose nitrates, so that's probably not the best way to test to see if the tank is cycled. Should I give it a month?

I made the same msitake as you did. I dosed nitrates for the plants sop I coudln't use it as an indicator of a cycle. I just overfed my fish slightly and then kept testing for ammonia and nitrites. It kept coming up zero for over a week every day. So i just added more livestock. It's been 2 weeks now and everything is fine.
