The plant do not grow.

I started up a new aquarium about two months ago. But there is a problem with the plants not growing properly.

I change about 20% of water two times a week. The tank is lit 11 hours a day and i add a little fertilizer from time to time but the algea take seems to take up all the nutrients.

Am i doing something wrong?

11 hours a day is a long photo-period.
Cutting down this time would be a start to lessen the algae growth.
Maybe move to 7 hours a day and test it.

Many will ask what type of light and depth of tank?
Fertilizers, what type of dosing is performed?
What plants are you trying to grow?

Others will chime in too.

Growing is not that difficult.

Hi,

The tank is 30cm (10 inch?) deep, with ADA LED lights.

I use ADA green brighty fertilizer. but try to avoid feeding the algae.

Im not shure of the name of the plant.

High light with no CO2 will result in algae.

It is hard to grow carpet plants without CO2.

What kind of plant is that? Marsilea?

Is the substrate Aquasoil Amazonia? It looks like it is. That substrate contains a lot of nutrients, other than potassium, which is why ADA recommends using Brighty K, a potassium fertilizer. Some ADA light fixtures give fairly low light compared to similar lights made by other manufacturers, but I don't know if their LED light is one of those. In any case that carpet plant needs CO2 to grow as a carpet and not just as vertical stems.

Yes, it is ADA amazonia Powder soil. I thought that maybe the "powder" was the wrong type?
