Ei for dummies, what am I missing

So where do I start, I have wanted to go done the ei diy route for about 2 years and can not get the confidence to do it, mainly due to conflicting info, i realize there is no right or wrong but surly there is a rough recommend amounts, last time I tried it I turned my tank to a green soup.

This is where I'm at, I have a 3 ft standard tank about 130 liters, 3 aqua ray tiles, which is over kill, pressurize co2 and a eheim pro 3 filter, again over kill. I have almost finished building an Ada style rimless 4ft x 2x2 which I will post some pics at a later date, I'm building tank and cabinet , I'm using the 3ft as a 'test tank', I have no fish in it which I won't risk killing any like last time.

I eventually want an auto doser but will wait until I can get the whole dyi under control.

So what do I do when I get so many different answers

I have spent many hours on researching and seem to get conflicting info.

As for ferts I have the flourish range, which I'm trying to get rid of and mix my own.

As for dry ferts I have Yates chelated iron @ 13 percent

Big bag of kno3 and another of kh2o4

Use flourish complete as my micros.

So I was thinking pretty much there has to be an ideal dose right?

So am I right by saying

Macro, micro, macro, micro, macro, micro water change at 50 percent repeat.

So yet another nuterient calculator gives my the following

Kno3po4. To have 1.3 ppm I need only 309mg 2 to 4 times a week

Kno3 to have 7.5ppm I need a gram

Fe I need 500mg to achieve 0.5 ppm

Then I get info of one of the gurus in oz and his dosage rates are as follows

Day 1 day 3 and day 5 12g kno3 2.4g kn2po4

Day 2 day 4,and day 6 8.3 rexolin apn

Day 7 water change

Who do I listen to

Then when I get the right advice what formula do I use so I can mix it for a dosing pump.

Do I need ro water, do most lfs stock it on can I boil or use distilled water?

I'm I looking at it to in depth

Any help would by greatly appreciated

Push the others aside and just follow Tom Barr's recommendation. Google it if need be. No testing and no calculators. That's why it's called estimative indeex.

I need to find a guild of some sort which can give me a idea of how much iron and flurish complete to use, read toms recommendations several times and am going to be using his guide, as for iron and flurish complete is where I keep getting conflicting info.500 mg seems like a very small amount. Last time I tried DIY I turned the tank in to a Algea farm.

so this is how i dose, remember for a low tech tank dose 1/3 what is recommended in that list.

i think its easier to dose as a solution so i use a calculator to come up with a 1500ml solution that the doses are 10ml each. that way i dont over/under dose as doing 1/64 of a teaspoon is next to impossible.

You may be over thinking this. The conditions you have would benefit from standard EI dosing. Many of the things you've read are probably people trying to modify EI dosing which is fine but unless you understand the basics it gets overwhelming. Here is a post I made explaining the basics of this, https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/11...explained.html. Give that a read.

After reading that come back and tell me which fertilizers you want to use that you have. I can do the calculations for you or show you how to do them. Forget all the long explanations, chemical names and scientific jargon. It's actually much easier than you think!
