EI Dosing confusion

Hi all,

I started a planted tank 2 months ago and have been using EI dosing method. But recently I notice the EI dosing calculator from TNC get an update. Here's my previous dosing regime:

Please take note that the generated result requires 25ml for each dose of macro and micro.

Here's the result from the updated calculator, it suggested 5ml per dose, that's way lower than what I've been dosing before:

I do notice the amount of the macro are quite different, are they most likely will generate the same water parameters? The updated version only dose 5ml because the macro solution is more condensed than the old calculation?

Apologies for bad english.

Correct. The micro solution is more condensed also.

Feel free to edit.

Ah, I see.

I have one more questions, my tank has quite a bit of livestocks, do you think it's a good idea to reduce KNO3 amount to 50%?

Probably. You need to monitor NO3 levels. If NO3 level remains stable, ok. If NO3 level continues to increase, reduce amount.

Hi Kevinliew,
I like this dosing calculator. It seems easy to use. Others seem to confuse me.
Could you put the share the link for this calculator on this thread?
I would love to use it!
Thank you very much!!
Have a great day

The TNC Estimative Index Calculator is a bespoke version, so it only has TNC Trace details etc so only really relevant for UK and Europe.

The rest of the world can use the Aquarium Calculators version which can and will use more Trace mixes etc - as well as have cooler features on the rest of the site going forward.
