Flourish Excel & CO2

I inject CO2.

I also add half a cap of excel daily.

Are the 2 of them necessary ?

Would the 2 together benefit my plants or am I doing them harm ?

Helps keep out algae in tanks/w just a bit more light than needed.
But I think most would likely label it a waste.
In a recent thread about culturing Daphnia, one reply mentioned not using
Excel in a tank that you are trying to culture the Daphnia in.
Vals and a couple of other plants are sensitive to it.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...

What do you mean by," Helps keep out algae in tanks/w just a bit more light than needed. "

You say I should stop using excel ?

What about the rest of the Seachem products ? I use them all.

If you don't have a problem with algae you can stop using excel. It is a carbon source, but CO2 is a better carbon source.

When you first put it in there it is an algacide. But it breaks down into just being a carbon source. People use Excel or Hydrogen Peroxide to dose directly on algae to kill it.
It's a choice. If you feel that it could use some extra help/w the algae then Excel works
on the algae in a different way. And people who don't have the injected CO2 use it as a substitute for the carbon. But for the most part once injected is in there they usually
discontinue using the Excel. Using both won't hurt the plants unless you have one of
those plants that it does hurt them to use Excel. Vals and Anacharis are the only ones that I know of which Excel is said to hurt. If you have no algae problems then you may be perfectly OK not using it.

^^^^This^^^^

I'm dosing Excel(Metricide) to help keep algae down while I get my tank dialed in. I inject CO2. My tank is coming up on about 8 months, and I'm slowly decreasing the Metricide dose.
