3 Weeks

Three weeks into the new tank and here are my parameters. I did a huge water change last night and my nitrates stayed exactly the same?? Am I ok to add a couple fish yet?


PH 8
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40
KH 6
GH 12

Fluval Spec V
Imagitarium 3.7G
Marineland 10G Half-Moon

I would not until your tank has less than 40 for a test.
I personally can't tell the difference between the 10-20 range or the 40-80 range on the
test results. I would allow 24 hrs between them but I'd do a 50% watere chsnge and see where you fall that time. Did you do a fishless cycle ?

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...

A good test is to add 2-3ppm ammonia into your tank. If all ammonia/nitirite are gone within 24 hrs then you are good to go.

I have had 18 rcs in it for 2 weeks. I didn't want to add them, but I came up on them at an annual local swap. They are doing great as far as I can tell. Super active, molting and eating things up. I am running Purigen in my hob if that has anything to do with the zero ammonia.
