Water quality issue? Algae?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question, but I'm honestly not sure what I'm dealing with here. From the sides and top my water looks crystal clear. However, if I look up at the surface from the bottom the water looks like it has a milky film on it. There is a pretty good deal of surface agitation (spray bar pointed up) so I'm not sure where it is coming from. I couldn't get a good picture of it, my camera isn't picking it up at all.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Is this going to hurt my fish in any way? Thanks!

I have no idea what I'm doing!

Sounds like a protein film, not really an issue. So the spray bar is agitating the top of the water? Usually that fixes it. I've also read that you can soak it up with a paper towel.

What I was thinking. Need more surface agitation.

I had this issue once and it was always after aquascaping and then I realized that it is from the moisturizer on the hand.

The spray bar is agitating the water so much that if I move it up any more the water starts to splash against the lid. I'll try paper towels. Thanks. So it won't harm the fish any?

I have no idea what I'm doing!

Like lotion? I wonder if that could be it. I usually try to rinse my hands before I do anything in the tank.

I have no idea what I'm doing!

yes, I rinsed my hands too but didn work. now I rinse and then use a paper towel to wipe any oils on hand. How long have you had the tank setup?

I use a ton of lotion through out the day, so maybe this is the issue. The tank has been set up for four months.

I have no idea what I'm doing!

ok then it could be the lotions. Usually if the tank is not old enough(like 6 months) there are lot of plant matter going through stages like melting, dead algae etc. So high chances of protein buildup. It could be both. If the film turns black, then its some kind of algae.

It does have some algae in it, for sure. I'll try to make sure my hands are lotion free. Thank you for all the help! I really appreciate it.
