Question New Nano Tank Parameters

I set up a new 3 gal picotope on Saturday and today (Monday) did some water testing with the following results: Ph 8, ammonia .5, 0 nitrites and 0 nitrates, 381 tds ppm. The temp is 80 deg. I used RO/DI water from my lfs which is ph 6 and 1 tds ppm. The tank is set up with eco complete with 2 flourish tabs under the substrate and I added 1 drop of excel today. I planted ludwigia, hornwort, water wisteria, dwarf sag and a dwarf crypt which has already sprouted a new leaf. Lighting is a 7000k led strip and filtration is aquaclear 20 with purigen substituted for the charcoal and I used a 300 micron felt pad to clear up the water faster. I basically understand cycling, but am not up on the various relationships between test results. Am I on the right track? My other question is about the purigen - am I undoing the excel with it? Thanks!

yes, I believe you are on the right track.

Purigen adsorbs organic compounds. So it is more likely than not that it will take excel out of the water column. Hard to monitor, since half life of excel is only 24 hrs anyway. (btw, charcoal will do the same as purigen)

I would keep an eye on your TDS values. if it goes down the plants are taking up the nutrients. If for some reason the TDS goes to 600 ppm, do a partial water change.
TDS of my tank water is mostly between 200 - 400 ppm.

Enjoy your tank
