Dosing for ADA Mini M?

I have a 5.5 gallon ADA Mini M tank with 27W ADA Solar M. I also have pressurized CO2 system.

I did some research and found a few dosing schedules for 10 gallon tank.
Please let me know if my calculations are correct for 5.5 gallon tank.

Sunday - 50% water change. Add Add 1/16 tsp KNO3, 1/64 tsp KH2PO4, 1/64 tsp K2SO4
Monday - Add 1/64 tsp CSM+B
Tuesday - Add 1/16 tsp KNO3, 1/64 tsp KH2PO4, 1/64 tsp K2SO4
Wednesday - Add 1/64 tsp CSM+B
Thursday - Add 1/16 tsp KNO3, 1/64 tsp KH2PO4, 1/64 tsp K2SO4
Friday - Add 1/64 tsp CSM+B
Saturday - Rest day

I followed recommendation on http://www.ukaps.org/EI.htm
and came up with this liquid solution (most of it is copied from the link above):

NPK (Potassium Nitrate KNO3 + Mono Potassium Phosphate KH2PO4 + Potassium Sulfate K2SO4) Mixture for 5 Gallon Tank

1 month = 4 Weeks
3 doses of NPK per week
Therefore there are 12 doses of NPK per month

Multiply a single dose teaspoon value by 12 =>

[1/16 tsp KNO3]*12 = 3/4 tsp KNO3
[1/64 tsp KH2PO4]*12 = 3/16 tsp KH2PO4
[1/64 tsp K2SO4]*12 = 3/16 tsp K2SO4

Add these to 300ml of distilled water

Now this mixture must serve 12 doses so each dose is 300ml/12 = 25ml
So, I need to only dose 25ml of this NPK solution 3 times per week.

Btw, 3/16 tsp is not a full 1/4 tsp in case you are wondering how to measure 3/16 tsp.

I made solutions in distilled water - if you know how much you want to add in grams, it's possible to be pretty accurate when adding a liquid.

I was just reading about mixing NPK in a liquid form with 600ml of water here: http://www.ukaps.org/EI.htm

Any idea why 600ml, not 500 or 700?

No. But it doesn't matter. As long as you know the percentage strength of your solution it's a simple matter of calculating volume. If you have a 10% solution of KNO3 and you need to add only .1gm to your tank - just add 1ml. Simple. I even have a quick spreadsheet that converts it to PPM concentrations. I have a cheap digital scale that I use to measure photo chemicals - it works fine for dry ferts as well.

I think I'm getting it now!

So, can somebody confirm that my dosing calculation in the first post are ok for 5.5 gallon tank?

Yes that looks good (half of a 10gal tank dose) tho I wouldn't bother with mixing it in a solution just go to a fancy cooking/kitchen outlet and pick up measuring spoons for 1/16, 1/32, 1/64 and dump it in dry.

Btw, since I already have 2 bottles of Seachem Fluorish, can it be used instead of CSM+B? Or CSM+B is better?

Thanks!

Yes you can use the flourish for micro's until it runs out. I like CSM+B or Pfetz M better but it will do for starters since you already have it.

heres what i did:

i went to the container store and bought 250ml bottles. i filled it with water and found that each pump is about 2.5 ml. i decided to dose 5ml (2 pumps) a day. 250ml / 5ml = 50 doses. now all you have to do is multiply the values you calculated from the first comment by 50 and dump that amount in the bottle. you can have one bottle for trace and another bottle for macros.

i hope that helps.
