Smile Fertilizer help, please!

I have a 10 gallon tank with 36w of household, spiral, flourescent bulbs. I also am going to have a DIY CO2 system

So far, the plants I know I will definitely have are HC and crystalwort. I intend to add more. I just don't know which.

Can someone give me a list of fertilizer and the system, whether dry or fluid or tab, that has worked for you?

I have been to numerous fertilizer websites but they have A LOT of different types of fertilizer. I don't know which are essential and don't want to waste money by buying unnessary stuff.

Thank you! (If you could tell me where you got the ferts as well. It would be very, very nice of you.)

All you need to buy is:

KNO3
KH2PO4
Trace mix (CSM+B or pfertz.com's "M")
Gh booster (for after water changes only)

The best two places I've found to buy ferts is:

~

All you need to do is:

Sunday - 50% water change. Add Add 1/8 tsp KNO3, 1/32 tsp KH2PO4, 1/32 tsp K2SO4, 1/2 tsp GH Booster
Monday - Add 1/32 tsp CSM+B
Tuesday - Add 1/8 tsp KNO3, 1/32 tsp KH2PO4, 1/32 tsp K2SO4
Wednesday - Add 1/32 tsp CSM+B
Thursday - Add 1/8 tsp KNO3, 1/32 tsp KH2PO4, 1/32 tsp K2SO4
Friday - Add 1/32 tsp CSM+B
Saturday - Rest day

Just dump it in dry about an hour before your lights turn on.

That's a nice graphic!

I use GH Booster after a water change because I have a diy peat moss filter I strain my water though so I need to buffer it up a bit I'd also recommend it for R/O users as well.

You can use the Excel but not with the EI system there's a Seachem pdf chart (attached) that you can use with the full range of there products for the same effect.

EDIT: For some reason my attachment didn't work but here's the link to get the Excel Spreadsheet that's much better over on APC:

Keep in mind not everyone will need the gh booster, if you have extremely hard water like I do and you don't use RO it would be completely unnecessary.

Edit - just noticed Orlando pretty much covered this. Must have missed it. My bad.

Yes EI is probably the best for a high-tech C02/Light setup.

I tend to use PPS-Pro for my low-tech tanks but I'm switching to EI for my high-tech's.

How do you make PPS-Pro? I looked it up, but I didn't understand it.

PPS-Pro uses two solutions:

#1 ~ 1.0 litre bottle:

59 grams of K2S04
65 grams of KNO3
6 grams of KH2PO4
41 grams of MgSO4

#2 ~ 1.0 litre bottle

80 grams of TE

Mix the two bottles up and keep them in the refrigerator and dose 1ml per 10gal every day from both bottles.

You really want to use Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate MgSO4∙7H2O) instead of pure Magnesium Sulfate. This is actually a typo in the PPS-Pro directions.

What do people recommend for "traces". I was gonna get everything from Orlando (Green Leaf) but I am puzzled as to what to get for traces from his store.

I know this doesn't relate to fertilizer, but with the system that Brad listed, how many hours of light would be neccesary and not too much?

Thank you!

You can use CSM+B or SeaChem Flourish

People normally use 8-9 hours of light a day. Any more may cause lots of algae.

Thanks Orlando!!
