Anyone used the co2 fizz tabs?

I ordered some HC and am going to go ahead and do some sort of co2. The only thing I add is Flourish once a week. The substrate is eco complete. Has anyone used the co2 fizzing tabs? Do they work or not?

If those don't work I was going to get the Hagen Plant Grow System w/ co2. Heres the link: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2754083 . Anyone used these? Seems like it would work, I just don't want to spend a lot on co2.

Any other suggestions on what I could do to assure the HC does alright.

No they don't work, they simply do not add enough C02 to the tank to do anything other than bubble. I've used the Hagen kit once on a small tank, it was OK and is probably a good starting point if your not ready to do a DIY setup or pay the big bucks for a full kit.

How many gallons is your tank? I started with a 10 gallon that had HC, ricca, moss, and various stem plants. At first I used the fizz factory from Petco and I didn't really see too much difference. The CO2 was was not consistent enough where I saw growth or pearling.

On the other hand, I later converted to DIY with a diffuser from ebay. I saw much more growth and great pearling from my ricca. It's rather inexpensive to run, but can start to be bothersome after awhile. The Co2 would get weaker by the 2nd/3rd week, so you'd have to run 2 bottle setups with one made 2 weeks prior. Well, this was too much of a big headache, so i converted to pressurized.

I'm sure the Hagen system is a better option than the fizz factory. It looks to have a better consistency of CO2. As Brad has stated, a good first option to start out with, but I'd rather save the money and start with pressurized. After going all these other systems, I could have saved myself the trouble and started with pressurized from the beginning.

Its a 5 gallon hex for shrimp only. The only other plants in the tank are a wisteria and java fern but I'll be adding more eventually.

The Hagen kit is nice, but the Hagen refills are pricey and in the past, they were out of date. Mike has a FAQ sticky named "WANTED: Your best Hagen CO2 recipes!" You may find it useful.

Some people have purchased the ladder and used a 2L bottle, juice bottle, etc for their yeast, sugar, baking soda mix.
