Are these these safe for my planted 7 gallon cube

Most likely too much surface area for the stick to dissolve too quick.

Most people use Osmocote Plus a slower release into the water column.
It is a pain placing with tweezers though.
Some also fill gel caps with Osmocote.

People who used to use Jobes spikes (the little house plant sticks) would break them in half, then use perhaps 2 sticks per 10 gallon tank, spread out in about 4 locations (half stick in each location).

I think they were using something like 'Fern and Palm' spikes, if I remember correctly.


Yes, Jobes Fern & Palm spikes is still listed at their web site. Not a lot of info about ingredients, though.
Here is the MSDS. Compare it to the MSDS for the fertilizer you are looking at.

Order some grow power regular aquatic plant tabs. They are 12-8-8 with micros. They break very easily into quarters, which I place at tank bottom 6" apart throughout tank.

Thanks for the input I got enough house plants to use up the spikes I'll use the osmocote + in the tank
