Using Blackwater Expert and Peat in the filter

I am currently doing weekly doses of Kent's Blackwater Expert for my 30 gallon planted with Cardinal and Glowlight Tetras. Would it be overkill to add peat to my canister filter while still using the Blackwater Expert?

Do you desire lower pH, kh or darker water?
Are you planning on switching to peat from the product? The water will most likely get darker when you add the peat.
