R O Water

How do you set it when you add the minerals back?

What I've been doing.
Post filter the water reads .01 TDS, drop tests for GH and KH go to end point on the first drop of reagent.

I never measure pH on the RO. I test GH + KH. What I do with it depends on which tank by whats in the tank. The KH I raise with baking soda. The GH I raise with Rex Grigg "Grumpy's GH Booster" If its just for fish and plants I usually set GH at 4 or 5dGH, if the tank has Brigs snails the minimum is 8dGH that I set.
Baking Soda = Arm & Hammer (generic may be OK) but I use A&H. Using leveled TSP measurements this what I think I get with it.
1/8 tps/6.65gallons of water = 1dKH
1/4 tsp/13.21g = 1dKH
1/2 tsp/26.42g = 1dKH so you can figure your volume from there.

2dKH usually tests as 6.8-7pH
3dKH = 7.2-7.4pH
pH readings are water w/o CO2 injected.

Generally used is the 1/2 tsp increments for me or doubled to 1 tsp.

Is this good or is there a better way?

That's about what I get in terms of ph to kh ratio once buffered. I measure grams, but I weighed a teaspoon measure to confirm what you're seeing. At 4dKH I get ph of 7.55. Still trying to get it (kh) to come down and stay down. I am setting my GH to 4-5 dGH. Do the ferts help maintain the GH or do you still need to add GH buffer occasionally? I know the plants use it, but thought micros like CSM+B were adding minerals back in as well. How often do you add Grumpy's to maintain your GH levels?

Steve

50% WC every week has equated to 30-45Grams of Grumpy's added weekly to date.
On the soil sub tank and if I go PPS for dosing I'm looking at adding Mg or Ca and trying to determine how best to go about it.

I don't add that much in a month for the three highlight tanks I have running.
Plants just do not need that much stuff in the water, unless you have a ridiculous
amount of light.

5 grams of Grumpy's raises GH by 2dGH mixed with 10 gallons of water.
30 gallon water changes on my 75g tanks drops GH from 5dGH to 2dGH it's simple math. 63 gallons actual tank volume, 45 grams raises hardness 3dGH. 3.4wpg 6700K and 10000K is not a ridiculous amount of light. Also tanks with Biggs in them need to stay above 8dGH or they're shells go thin.

Why are you even using RO, if you need a set amount of hardness for Biggs?
Tap water polluted?
