Water Quality Question...

A brief overview. I just setup my 90, I went to a park and found some rock for my tank. I scubbed the rock and then boiled it. I boiled the rock for about 10 minutes once the water was boiling. The rock was so hot I was barely able to pick it up with gloves. Then it steemed for 20 minutes and was still warm. I smeeled the rock after and it smelled like top soil, no nasties or anything rank. Placed it in the tank, filled it up, and turned on my pump.
The tank was clear yesterday(first day), now today the tank water is a little cloudy and the water smells. My basement smells from it. Its kinda a musty smell, but it smells bad.
Should i do a water change? or will the smell come back? Could the rock be the problem?? I got it out of a running stream, I believe its limestone.

I checked my ammonia, it was .03 tonight.

Here's a pic if it helps identify the rock, it was kinda a sand yellow color.

What kind of rock is it? Did you test to see if it would change your water parameters?

Not sure what could be causing the smell though. Tanks going through the bacterial bloom phase don't small too bad.

I did some searching on yahoo, the rock is all Limestone.

Didnt test to see if it would change as the tank was new. Never thought of it. I know of alot of people that use Limestone without issues.

It could be messing with your water hardness parameters perhaps;did you test the rock to see if it fizzed using vinegar? Good luck

No. If it fizzes is it good to use or not?

I just checked the tank. The water slightly has a fishy smell to it. Could there be a bacteria bloom which is causing the light cloudiness?

It turns out, the rock is indeed Sandstone not Limestone. I found some better pics and it is indeed what I have. It feels gritty and leaves behind a sand/dust when scraped.
I poured vinegear on the rock and it did nothing, I submerged a small rock comletly under and it didnt fizz.
