Water changes to bring the nitrates down.

That being said, I personally dont usually dose kno3 due to already maintaining around 10ppm nitrates.. I do dose the others however, kh2po4, k2so4, millers microplex/csm+b, and iron. I test a couple times a week between water changes and if nitrates drop to 0 then I'll dose kno3.

Some people find CSM+B is low in iron.

If your NO3 is already high, and it is from fish food, then fish food also supplies a fair amount of phosphorus and most traces, but not much iron.

When my tanks show high NO3 from fish food, all I dose is potassium and iron.

I would go with EI if you're injecting CO2 provided you don't mind water changes. Are your current nitrate levels a result of nitrates in your tap water?

I'm sure you'll hear a hundred different responses about how much, often or other direct suggestions. The point is you'll never be able to adjust to changes without advise until you understand the basics of nutrient management. Check out this post first. Get familiar with why we dose what we dose.

Once we understand something it becomes very easy. Until then, it all sounds like chemical formulas, math and things most of us really don't care to learn. Dosing is actually the most simple aspect of the planted tank.

wow that was alot of good information zorfox thank you.after reading that i think ill get a bottle of flourish iron until i can get some dry iron from GLA. i dont mind water changes or anything extra.all my tanks are for my 3 boys they have autism and its rough at times but when they look at the tanks they just stop and smile and giggle.theres times when all 4 of us just watch for what seems like hours. they are the reason i got into planted tanks.....so thanks to everyone on here i get to have wonderful times with some amazing little guys
