hazy water

switched from Fluval 106 to a Fluval G3 canister and i switched everything over except for my bag of chemi-pure that was almost a year old and filter floss that i needed to replace so. I am runnning seachem matrix, purigen, cuprisorb and some fluval bio media temporarily while i wait for my matrix carbon and phosguard, and G3 fine pre-filter to come in the mail

my parameters are
ph 7.0
ammonia 0 ppm
nitrite 0 ppm
nitrate 10ppm

i suspect it was the fluval bio-media since i didnt wash it or the fact that I dont have carbon running while i wait for it to come in the mail.

I have 2 canister filters, one on each tank, neither has carbon in it water is crystal clear. Have you purged all the air out of the new filter? And can we get a pic to see what your talking about?

The ceramic noodles hold a surprising amount of very fine dust. Did you put new floss back in the filter? This will eventually trap the fines.

I also do not run activated carbon in any of my tanks. Nor ammonia remover. Is there something in the tap water you need to remove? Might be better to do this before filling the tank- set up a garbage can or barrel and run a filter with all these chemical media on that for 24-48 hours-
Cuprisorb, Chem-pure, phos-gard, activated carbon... Get the stuff out of the water before it even enters the tank!
