Flourish excel in a new tank

I'm just wondering if adding excel to a newer tank would be a good idea. It's around three weeks old, and already cycled from already established biowheels.

From personal experience. I started a 55 with high light, CO2, nutrients, etc. Anyways, I had a bad case of Clado algae. I used Metricide at about 0.6 ml per gallon and it killed all of the Clado. The fish were fine...even the Ghost Shrimp I had at the time seemed OK. Now, I have no algae issues because the tank is mature i suppose. Basically I overdose nutrients, provide plenty of CO2, which leaves my limiting factor the lighting.

I did eventually lose my Ghost Shrimp...My Blue Gouramis loved them!

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if the plants would be okay since they were recently moved. I've also got some dry ferts on the way.

I would like to add that approximately 0.6 ml of Metricide = 1 ml of Excel. In addition, you can buy a Gallon of Metricide for what a Liter of Excel costs. If you do the math I think you'll find that Metricide is a better deal.

What exactly am I looking for with Metricide? I saw two or three different kinds. One was like a 28 day sterilizer and the other was a 14?
