Use dog dewormer (the brand pancur) if you can find it. I used it once months ago for hydra in my betta tank at work. Haven't seen them since. It is supposed to work on worms really well.

Without Algae, death of mankind would be inevitable.

You can use safely. I used it in the tank my 4+ year old betta resides in, and he had no ill effects. It is safe even for shrimp. As long as the dog dewormer has Fenbendazole as an ingredient, you can use any brand. You basically use .1 gram per 10 gallons and wait 48 hours before changing the water at least 25%. If you don't have a scale you can estimate by dividing the powder in 10 equal parts if the package is the typical 1 gram. It will not dissolve very well so you will notice some "snowflakes" in your tank for a while. I actually went four days before changing the water and had no problems. I have yet to see a planaria or hydra since.

Here is a link that I used: http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/?p=vB52784

In my 10 gal shrimp only tank I ended up with lots of planaria once. Part of the solution was cleaning the substrate more. Airline tubing worked well for spot cleaning the mulm from around all the plants and didn't disturb anything else. Takes forever but it's much less damaging than the python I use on my 55 and I didn't lose any shrimp.
