I understand that the pump is driven with a magnet rather than coils. This is what allows a filter like the Eheim Classics to be able to be reduced. Does this same principal allow it to be started and stopped daily with little to no issue? Am I way off base with this assumption?
Also is there a risk of the filter not being primed after this 15min feeding interval?
I have no experience with a canister style filter, so I'm not sure about the priming aspect. This is my first sump style set up, before this tank it was always HOBs. I am fairly certain you are correct on the first statement though, magnets drive the pump impellers. At least that seems to be true for the Rio. There does not seem to be any additional noise or vibration when the pump starts back up after the feed cycle, so I cant really see how any detrimental damage is being done.
