Ammonia

I just got a pair of killies. I have a 10 gallon that i am using for them but i set it up today. I'm using seeded media from a filter that had been used for 7 months, and currently have 0 nitrates .25-.5 ammonia and 0 nitrites.

The ammonia was between 1.0 and 2.0 but after a water change i was able to bring it down to .25 - .5

Will the killies be okay over night in that? i know ammonia is harmful but its late and i cant do a water change until tomorrow. The only breeder net i have is in use on a different tank and i really dont have another tank.

i hope someone is online this late.

thanks

As you know it's certainly not ideal. You can dose the tank with a water conditioner that detoxifies ammonia, such as Prime, to improve conditions overnight.

The lower your pH, the less harmful the ammonia is. If your pH is in the 6's the fish should be fine.
