Mixing excel with KNO3 and CSM+B for automated dosing

I'm looking to make a very low maintenance lowish light, no CO2 tank. I have one peristaltic pump I can use for dosing (got it from a friend for cheap).

I was wondering, can I mix excel with KNO3 and CSM+B (in a dark container to protect the excel)? I know I can mix KNO3 with CSM+B.. but I'm not sure about adding excel to the mix. If I can't.. I'll just have the pump dose excel.

I'm hoping to have PO4 supplied by the fish.. maybe dose it once per week or so.

Yes. And the excel may actually help the CSMB fungus from starting....

Great!

Oddly enough, I've been using CSM+B for over a year now, and I've NEVER had the fungus problem. Not using bleach or anything else. Just RO water and CSM+B at @ 1 tablespoon per 250ml.

I don't think this would work unless there was no water used in the mix... Excel has an active life of only 24 hours after it is mixed with water.

It's not the mixing with water that deactivates Excel, it's the killing off microscopic beasties that tank water contains.
