api test results

Hello, just have a quick question on test results.
Using API test kit ph tests at 7.6
So I ran the high range and got 7.4
Just curious about the difference, or am I just misinterpreting the results.

If you look at your color charts, the API tests are marked off in pretty coarse increments around that range (steps of 0.4). Thus, your readings are not exactly 7.6 and 7.4, they are more like those numbers give-or-take 0.1 (1/4 the step size). So a more appropriate reading would be 7.5-7.7 and 7.3-7.5...

I often get more-or-less the same result, and have always treated it as "7.5".. .since neither scale actually has a color for 7.5 on it, and this is the overlap between a reasonable error-range for both tests.

That was what I was thinking. Thank you for your input.
